Cause I don't know what I'm doin, I have various questions that I can't find answers to.
Does the conical sanding disc require special sand paper? Seems like a flat sheet would "wrinkle" when applied ?
I'll start with that one...rest require pictures which I need to take, etc.

Shopsmith sells paper for the conical disc. It isn't really special it just has a circle cut out of the center and a slot from the center to the edge. The cut out and slit allow the paper to conform to the conical shape without a wrinkle. I have saved the paper backing from one that came from shopsmith. When i run put of conical disc paper i plan on using the backing paper as a template to cut my own conical disc paper and will attach with spray adhesive.

I think using a new conical disc paper as a pattern would be more sturdy and accurate.
