SS Router Set-Up

Need schooling on the following setup. My SS came from a guy who bought it, he said, to make his kitchen cabinets. I have the router package (round guard, arbor,4 straight bits and the dovetail bit). I have looked at the SS catalog on-line and it appears I have everything. So is it as easy as: vert drill press mode-arbor install-bit install-fence to guide the workpiece? I can see where the straight bits could be a nice technique for making dado's ect.
Why are the bits not flat on one side? If one was to use the dovetail bit, how would you set up your workpiece to make repeated cuts and have everything come out ok? I'm wondering if anyone uses this very often or has some pics.
I also ended up with a molder head and 5 sets of cutting knives. But from what I'm reading, I'm not too excited to try that yet.
