Was watching Gearz (Stacy David on Speed Channel) and he was showing the finish for an oak truck bed. He showed a board with polyurethane and it looked very nice. But he showed another board he had sprayed with the BSP300 clear and it really looked great. It had the look of glossy store-bought furniture.
Has anyone else tried this stuff or a similar finish? I would sure like to know what the downside is since I am not very experienced at finishing.

Duplicolor BSP300 is a high gloss clear lacquer finish normally used on automobiles. I have successfully used it on restored concert pianos after applying Duplicolor paint.
I have never used it on raw wood. But I don't see any reason not to. However, good surface prep is a must. For most woods, you'll want to use a grain filler and sand up through 220 or higher.
The same would apply for stained wood, also.
I treat the surfaces much like an automobile panel and go all the way through 3000 grit on the painted surface and after each coat (usually 6 coats) of the clear lacquer, ending up with a final buffing with wax on the final coat.
Depending on your desires, such extremes may not be necessary.
