My daughter in law isastudent & ask me if i could mae an adjustable table top book stand ---does anyone have a set of plans?---how best to make one adjustable? as you can tell i'm not very accompolished as a wood worker and plans help me a lot

The PDF file contains several 4H plans, one of which is an adjustable shelf.

It doesn't get much simpler than this. Size to suit the need. Style or season to suit taste.

Here's one I am finishing for my daughter's birthday, who has gotten into cooking. Intended to sit on her counter and hold a few of her favorite cookbooks. This is a simple project with a great design to it. Got it out of Wood magazine, May 2003, pg. 78. I really liked the clean lines and simple construction. Six pieces of wood, two dados and a little bandsaw work. This one is walnut.

thanks guys but i meant a stand that can hold an open book that you can read while typing like a cook book stand used while cooking

That's what kids are for. You have them stand and hold the book. It keeps them out of trouble.
Our kids main job in the early years was changing the TV channel. We had 4 kids. If they had not invented the remote control at that time we might have just kept having kids so there would always be one around to change the channel.

Yeah, for Christmas, for the same daughter, I wanted the same thing. I googled pics and looked at 100s and then designed this:

Taking a simplistic approach, it is 3 pieces of curly maple and designed to take back apart and throw in a drawer when not being used.
