Hello All:
New to the forum, I have been looking at posts, but never posted...
My Mark V is a 1983 version, and I would like to install a hand wheel made out of wood on the accessory (left side) of the power head, I've seen some references about his , but nothing explicit.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!!

Maybe this is not what you want, but you could mount a face plate with wood mounted to it. If you are familiar with the lathe function, you can turn the wood to a pretty nice rounded edge - later even add a turned handle.

I attached a scrap piece of 3/4" thick wood to a 3" lathe faceplate, turned it to ca. 4" diameter, and rounded the edges. Quick and easy (if you have a spare faceplate laying around).

I have a nice 6" round smooth lathe handwheel I drilled for 5/8" ID that I keep mounted on my dedicated drill/tap/mill Shopsmith. I had been using a 6" face plate but the thicker rounder rim handwheel with spokes was a nice improvement. I use the handwheel to do all my tapping and cutting threads on bolts. I have tap & die holders that mount on the 5/8" arbor Quill shaft.

I have been intending to make a couple of hand-wheels, just not gotten there yet.
Just a thought... after thinking about it I had decided that I didn't want to make mine out of a simple board... I would hate to think about a one board hand-wheel accidentally being left on the SS when it was cranked up to router/shaper speeds, especially if it were on a PowerPro with its greatly increased speed.
I can see a section of one splitting off along the grain line at high speeds. Even more possible if it got bumped a little harder than thought at some point. I think I want a high grade plywood for them.
