Does anyone recognize the assembly lying inside the jigsaw frame?

Also of interest, I don't recall ever seeing that shaper-fence configuration before. And that looks like a 4-step pulley on the headstock, so this machine is going to have a wider-than-normal speed range. I wonder what's in the drawers?

It certainly does say Shopsmith but I don't ever remember seeing Shopsmith use two lines and a single S for their name. Can anyone confirm that it is this Shopsmith or not?

They are both green so were they made by Magna with that logo in the early days of the Mark 5?

I think that is a likely good conclusion.

However the ones that came with my 10E were not green. Not sure they had any paint, but it may have worn off?

Well that is exactly what it is. Someone wrapped some chain saw chain around a 6" Lathe face plate. Since it is green it would have a set screw using a 5/32" Allen Wrench. When Magna announced the Mark 5 they also started changing all possible set screws on accessories to a 5/32" Allen Wrench size. The idea was to only need one tool for change-overs. Model 10 accessories used 1/8" or 3/16" Allen Wrench size set screws for accessories. Only the cast iron ones were painted. Gray for Model 10's, Green for the early Mark 5's and back to gray. I have not seen any painted in the "Goldie" colors, but they could be out there. Aluminum Lathe Face Plates were not painted. I wish the seller would have posted a picture of the other side in the listing. It would be interesting to see how the chain is connected.

Actually they do show both sides. There are two faceplates bolted together. Notice the 3 nuts on one side and 2 bolt heads and a screw head on the second side.
