beeg; I don't know how to get a more real version of IE than the one I have. I loaded IE6 and SP1 (which is the latest for Windows 2000) directly off a CD provided by Microsoft. In fact, I uninstalled and reinstalled it last week.
I would be concerned that IE6 is not new enough except Admin reports they use Windows 2000 themselves.
I have received a reply from customer support at addonChat. They kindly report that they have provided all of the support that they can, given that I am not a paying customer.
Following is a copy of part of what I received:
Per my multiple replies as well as the email to nick when explained the issue, this is related to a firewall on your own computer which is restricting access to the chat room.
Therefore you need to follow the instructions in the link in the email to nick which will explain what steps you can use to resolve this. However if your connecting from an office/school/work environment or have a strict firewall the owner of the chat room would need to look at trying the firewall friendly module and setting the default port to 8080 which is the general port for internet access and usually helps with this issue.
As this portal is for support for chat owners of paid service plans, we can only give limited support to non customer inquiries, however the links given previously (http://support.addoninteractive.com/...=kb&article=21) to the troubleshooter and firewall issues link should help with your issue or as I say a firewall friendly module which could be tried.
For this option the owner of the chat room would need to add this to their account.
It might only be because I am frustrated but it seems that I have just been given the old fashion "brush off".
It has been fun but it is no more.
