Shopsmith crosscut Stop for 520/Mark7

I purchased the item for $10.99. As always, instructions were clear. However, when I attempted to attach it to the fence, I noticed the knob was difficult to thread onto the bolt; however a bit of powdered graphite fixed that issue. What I didn't like was when I tried to slide the sliding nut into the fence channel, it would not slide into position. I tried a little bit of paste wax and buffed the fence and tried to slide the nut into position again. It wasn't as bad but I did notice a deep scratch on the fence face. Needless to say I am disappointed with item as received, but I am going to attempt belt sanding the nut see if I can get the thing to slide better.

This is unusual, however. The sliding "T"-nut typically moves quite easily in the t-slot. Try the t-nut without the bolt.

Yes, it did come from Shopsmith and is what you referenced. I did try a t-nut without a bolt and it fit nicely. Since the t-nut in question already has the bolt attached, I am still going to attempt sanding the bottom of the t-nut in order for it to slide easier. I just don't want to leave scratches in the t-slot.

Interesting. I had that same problem. It would not fit into my 520 fence. I have two 520 table systems so I tried it in the other fence. Fit was perfect! Left me scratching my head!

Really? The t-nut doesn't fit in the t-slot.

One fence is different than the other...maybe.

Old fence or new? Does a straight edge reveal anything?

Is it possible the knob screw is too long and is extending proud of the 'back' of the t-nut?

I have 2 520 fences as well. Didn't fit in either. JPG, I felt the back of the t-nut and couldn't tell if the bolt may be proud. As soon as I can get out of my wrist splint, I figure I can either use my strip or belt sander to sand remove enough metal to make the t-nut slide better.

NO! Not unless there has been a redesign.

The t-nut is built differently than other t-nuts.

I solved my issue! If I had taken a minute I would have seen that one roll pin had been proud. A quick trip to the strip sander fixed that. I still find it odd that it would fit one fence (from the Powerpro) and not the fence I got from Ebay.

I tried, but it was stubborn. The strip sander called to me! Love that strip sander!!!

Loctite or CA perhaps?
