If you love the sounds of nature then this is music to your ears, or not.

BIG nature walk yesterday, 22,786 steps, 10.15 miles and 239 minutes. One movie and 98 pictures, a lot of bluebells included, and pawpaw flowers just to name a couple. I'll post a picture later of a bush in flower that was just covered in bees, well not really covered but a lot of bee action. In one picture I can count over 20 bees and that was just on a couple of top branches. Whole bush must have been in the thousands??

Scrolling & zooming on my iPad, I only spotted 17. I think I missed the blurry ones that are camouflaged by by the upper right-hand branch. Very cool pic!

A lot of rain to deal with but you just never know what you will run across even when walking in the rain.

This little bird just loves to flit around, it took me 20 minutes to finally get a half way decent picture:

Easy to spot but hard to keep track of.

This one was also easy to spot but it was raining harder so not quite as good a picture plus it was pretty far away. Zoom can only do so much.

On the other hand this one was a little harder to find but didn't mind posing for a picture.

I don't know either of the birds, still have to look them up. Both were small/blue bird size and not something that I've found before. Maybe someone else knows already?

I have a UV filter on and a extendable hood but the bulk of the time I keep the camera in a plastic bag and I'm walking with a larger umbrella. The camera still gets a little wet but I try to minimize exposure. Then when I get home I wipe it down and clean the lens.

Of course from my knees down I get soaked. Last two weekends have been that way. I had thought about skipping this weekends walk but sometimes I just do what I want to and take the walk. Had to set out the heavy part of the storm, it was 81 and I could see the cloud bank coming, temperature dropped to 64 in minutes. Had to waste about an hour until the rain slowed down enough......

The red and black bird looks like a scarlet tanager. They’re rarely seen, as they usually stay high up in the forest canopy.

I think I finally ID’d the little black and orange fellow. His color is a lot like an Oriole, but that was a dry hole. He appears to be a male American Redstart. I’ve never seen or even heard of them, but the range map says that they live in Ohio. I guess I’ll have to start looking up in the trees, instead of just at my bird feeder, as they mostly just eat insects.

I was out for a walk about 40-50 miles farther east yesterday and I couldn't believe it but there was a Scarlet Tanager there too. Got a number of good shots like this one:
