When I picked up my SS some weeks back, the previous owner did not have the manuals for the jointer, planer or the bandsaw. I did not find this out until I got everything home and unpacked it. (He had the unit since 2001 and had never taken it out of the box.) Also missing were the mounting tubes for the bandsaw.
"Not to worry" I thought. I knew someone with the bandsaw and got a copy of his manual. Figured I could order the tubes and the other manuals. The manuals came in find, but I figured "go with the eccentric mounting tubes." They're on back order. Indefinitely.
Today I got an e-mail response to my inquiry regarding how long until they are available. Jan at SS informed me that they didn't know when they would have them, but the stock tubes were available. I called in and they switched my order to the stock tubes. This despite the fact that the stock tubes are actually more expensive!! No extra charge to me. Quick, painless and professional conversation with the CS rep I spoke with.
The point here is, the much vaunted customer service at SS is still alive and well. After drooling at the demos for years, finally buying an (un)used 520, only to then learn of the "belt tightening" at SS, this level of service really made me feel good.

Hoagie, I ordered a pair of eccentric mounting tubes for my bandsaw about the middle of July. They were on back-order then too. I received mine in about 2-3 weeks. After looking at them, I believe SS doesn't keep an inventory of items like that and make them upon order. I wouldn't think yours would be on order too long. There's really a benefit to the offset tubes, you can raise the headstock to a vertical position for drilling operations and routing operations without having to remove the bandsaw. With the "normal" tubes, the way tubes will hit the bandsaw table.
Now if SS would just get in the bandsaw ripping fence in stock that I ordered the end of last month... :)

I have a set of the eccentic tubes that I will never use again. There is nothing wrong with them I have mounted my bandsaw on it's own motorized stand. fjimp

Are you interested in selling them? I'm on the other side of the country from you (So. Calif.) so the shipping costs might be the determining factor if you are willing to part with them.
Tom's comments about the benefits of being able to leave the bandsaw on the SS are the main reason why I went with the eccentric tubes over the stock tubes in the first place. But the bandsaw is one SPT I have an immediate use for and I got to figuring that stock tubes are better than no tubes.
I'm interested in your used tubes if you are willing to part with them.
