reible I want to look up some parts but I can't recall the right name for them??? You drill a hole and this cylinder with a threaded hole goes in it. Can't recall what they are called, someone must remember??? Ed
jsburger Don't know if it has its own unique name but is it a nut for a bed bolt? https://www.leevalley.com/en-us/shop/hardware/bed-hardware/connectors/40445-bed-bolts?item=05G1701

edma194 I second 'barrel nut'. Readily available: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-20-x-5-8-in-Slotted-Drive-Zinc-plated-Barrel-Nut/3012559
rogersk McMaster-Carr calls them "dowell nuts", where Lowes calls them "barrel nuts". McMaster-Carr shows something different for "barrel nuts". Weird.
reible Thank you one and all. With so many names you would think I would have remember at least one of them?? Ed
edma194 I never noticed 'dowel nut' being used before. Searches find them under either name. They are the critical component if you want to make your own Jorgensen style handscrew wood clamps.
bainin Doesnt look exactly like your drawing- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrel_nut AKA steel cross dowel, or dowel nut
JPG Some folks have been known to make them(often). https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=24463&hilit=whatsit https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?p=177231#p177231
