New Shopsmith Website is Up and Running Today!

New website is up and running this afternoon. At first glance, it looks like a HUGE improvement!

I noticed right away that the parts section is a vast improvement over the previous version, for sure!

Wow, that was a fast response. Because of how Internet DNS propagates, it may be an hour before everyone starts to see the new site.

Yeah, I happened to be shopping on the site when it stopped working for a few minutes and then the new site popped up when I returned. Only bad part is that I had about 8 parts in my shopping cart that I'll have to go back and look up! Although, the process seems to flow better now. The parts diagram stays in place and you're able to scroll through the parts list while still looking at the diagram; way easier!

Or, maybe I just need to login to the new site. I tried a couple of times to login under my account but haven't been able to do so yet...

I was able to logon on to my account.

HOWEVER, it does appear as though all the Model 500 parts that I was shopping for are no longer listed in the Parts section. Maybe, I'm just not looking in the right place? I sure hope those parts won't be available going forward. I'm in the middle of repairing and restoring my dad's 1982 Mark V and I hope I'm not goin to be out of luck!

Hopefully the parts breakdowns are only temporarily missing. I see the Mark 7 breakdowns and several SPT breakdowns, so I feel certain I'm looking in the right place. If you have the manual, you can currently look up some parts by part number or nomenclature. I looked up the conventional headstock Control Sheave by PN and found that. I also looked up Idler Shaft by name and found both the conventional and PowerPro versions. Based on a small number of samples, the parts themselves are in there.

If you don't have a manual, feel free to ask here on the forum and I'm sure someone can help. I can put my hands on an early 80's manual I bought because I had no manual for my Greenie I bought in that time period.

I was pleased to see that numerous manuals in .pdf format are again available for free download on the new website. The list also includes some new (to me) titles including Mark 7, Mark 4, and Mark 520S.

David, I did find most of the parts I was looking for by putting the part number directly in the search function on the SS website (using the original parts manual for the source of the part numbers). The two parts that I couldn't locate are part of the Saw Guard System (505875). I have the instructions for the saw guard but it doesn't have any parts numbers.

I am looking for a replacement torsion spring for the kickback pawls and the large knob that secures the saw guard assembly to the mount on the rear of the main table. If anybody has access to those part numbers, I would appreciate it! Eric

I really wish marketing wouldn't do dumb things like this. I thought "smart" anything as a marketing buzzword went out a couple decades ago. Surprised they didn't go with the newer, and equally useless, choice of iMotor to refer to the PowerPro under new management's rebranding. Even newer refer to how "green" the manufacturing is, or what your carbon footprint is as a company. ;)

What if my conventional headstock motor identifies as a "smart" motor. Are there any intelligence neutral parts diagrams that represent it??? :)

Okay maybe I'm the only one having this issue with the new site, but I can't get the site to show any of my past orders so that I can check on the status. Any suggestions? I've tried both Safari and Chrome but it's showing "No past orders".

They don't recognize my email address. The old account info doesn't seem connected yet.

I had the same issue with my account. I had to just sign up for a new account. Although, I used the same e-mail address, the new account doesn't seemed linked to my old account at all and, consequently, my two pending orders do not display either. I think the only thing you can do to check the status of an order is to get on the phone with customer service.

New website at least looks better. Whether it is functionally better organized is TBD.
