That's why I hopped on it and drove far to go grab it. The guy said he's been at it over 40yrs. Really advanced woodworking shop he had! I think he was trying to help someone out... One day I'll know what I'm doing, have lots of parts and help the new folks too!

This machine I just picked up is a Mark V 520. Serial numbers for this model is the date of manufacture. The biggest difference (that I can see) is the floating table system, where my Mark 5 has 1 table section and the end table.
Since this 2nd machine is both newer and in better condition, I will work on alignments and maintenance and use the 520 as my primary machine. I'll leave the bandsaw in place and use the table saw and sanding disc. My older machine will primarily be a lathe and drill press, as needed.
There's still lots of parts I want to acquire for both of them. I'm looking forward to making small projects soon!

Looks to be a 510. Note that the side rails are just tubes. The 520 system has an extruded angle on the side rails like this new Mark 7 using the same table system

FYI….
My adaptation to use additional machines. Thinking was that all Shopsmith fences, guides, attachments etc will fit on each of these.

I realize that the market price of these vary greatly with condition, SPT's and supplies and in different locations. I thought it looked like a good deal. Just how much would this SS and parts I got go for normally?

Whatever the seller can get for it and the buyer is willing to pay. That said, you did very well! And the duplicator was a bonus!

You did get a great deal. It is as already stared a Mark V 510. As you learn more about the Shopsmith tools you will be able to identify the different parts. If you cannot, post a picture of only the part(s) you want identified. It would take a while to name all the parts in the pictures in your previous posts.
cooch366 has a nice setup using a Mark V 510 as a wall mounted Drill Press and a Mark frame for the Router Table besides the Mark V 510. Having them all with the 510 Table/Fence System means some additional versatility.

Thanks so much. I'm just making lists, taking notes, watching videos and researching. I looked up the duplicator p/n and started reading. Just to understand what it does. Very helpful for making all types of projects.
For now, I want to learn turning and bowl making. I need a set of chisels and a way to sharpen them, apparently frequently... Watching vids on CBN wheels on bench grinder with variable speed capabilities and techniques/jigs for keeping tools sharp.
I'm not sure that I need cbn wheels yet. Think I want to practice turning on scrap wood and make sure it's something I enjoy. I have a strong feeling I'm gonna get hooked. Going to keep researching types of chisels, brands, pricing and what type of steel used in them. I.e. what types of steel materials (in chisels) work with what type of grinding wheels.
The good news is that I had some dry mesquite and used the SS bandsaw last night. Just wanted to actually use the machine.
The bandsaw cut very nicely and left a smooth surface with a beautiful red and yellow pattern. That one little session left me wanting to do more. I'm excited to get into this...

...so excited to get into it, that I smoked my blade. Why? WRONG blade for thick mesquite, probably pushed too fast and was an old well used blade. Thanks to the manual and Scott @ "My Growth Rings" video, I was able to swap out blades, dial in guides and set tension on the RIGHT blade correctly. Lesson learned...

The Miter is a must have for some functions and is a great help as you have learned. The one you got with the Mark V 510 will work with it, the Bandsaw and the Older Mark 5 you have but needs the "T" Track Washer removed for it. It can even be used with the 6" Belt Sander if you get one. For some uses you can remove the Safety Grip and use it like a fence. That special set screw in the center of the bar can lock it in the Miter groove.

An option to 'removing' the t-track washer, is to grind two flats on the washer to make it slightly narrower than the slot. Thus by loosening the screw the washer can be rotated to either be used on the older straight sided slot or the t- track.

Very helpful info! I can grind a washer to make it fit the slot on both machines easy enough.
I received 2 arbors today. One for the 500 (555321) and the other is for the 510 machine. Now I can run the table saws!
Tomorrow morning, an acquaintance is coming over to teach me the lathe on the 510. He will leave a cbn setup so I can sharpen chisels when they get here.
Is it normal for spouses to question a certain quantity of parts coming to the house? Asking for a friend...
