@RFGuy Good context, thanks mate. That all makes sense. I didn't know any of that, I only knew that Andrew resurrected the Forum earlier this year.
But I have noticed many links 404 from old threads. I often have to check the Internet Archive when that happens, but that's not a solution and it's not always available.
I completely agree with your points on the Forum being a massive knowledge base, in fact, it's the biggest reason I decided to go all in on Shopsmith from Australia. I even scraped my own offline version of the Forum as a doomsday backup haha.
That's sort of why I'm so invested in getting this fixed. I'm going to dig up and read the old threads and see if there are any fixable patterns I can find or suggest . When a new site comes along you're supposed to redirect all old > new pages. both for users, but also for business things like seo. It gets more complicated when you've got multiple layers, but let's see... in the end it's always just a map from broken link to working link.
I'd normally not be able to help much, but in the age of LLMs there's really no reason this can't be teased out an fixed relatively quickly. We'll see, I'll be sad to see you or anyone else go, but maybe it can be made better than before, who knows!
I'm on all 3 platforms, MGR and FB Owner's, all are good for different things, but this one is king because it serves as a searchable, indexes, multi decade knowledge base.
I'll do my best to help resurrect it.
