Yeah, there was an interesting video that Lincoln Street Woodworks just posted about his trip to the International Woodworking tradeshow (IWF 2026). There is a replaceable cartridge that cuts the bandsaw blade. I also agree with his assessment that bringing this kind of technology to a bandsaw doesn't make a lot of sense, but if someone wants to pay for it then by all means. That Chinese company, Harvey, also came out with a competing tablesaw to the SawStop but it looks like they took a different approach and the blade is NOT destroyed when it is activated. That aspect definitely looks interesting, but it looks to be a VERY expensive tablesaw and I question the large touch display being in the way where it is mounted. It can also detect the difference between a hand getting near the blade versus wood or someone just holding a piece of paper near it. Noteworthy that it activates when your hand nears the blade, so it stops the blade before you could even touch it. I wonder how this might affect certain tablesaw cuts though, e.g. does it mean always a push stick to complete a cut? Again if someone has the money for this tool, then I guess it makes sense for them to bring it to market?
