I am not sure of the wood. I found it on the bank of Mobile bay.

Used Bandsaw, Scroll Saw, Sanding disk, drum sander, Made a jig to cut slots in hub for blades, and lathe for turning the hub. Drawn from picture of Plan. Real Plan can be found by searching for (Title) which finds a lot of less wholesome postings.

Very nice work on the .5 SS. I still have not finished mine yet. The wife asked for a paper towel holder for the floor in the laundry room. This was a nice after work project. I used some scrap walnut for the base and a piece of poplar for the spindle. Nothing impressive but I got some brownie points for doing the job for her.

ANY transformation from raw material to a finished product is impressive. I think it looks great. Nice smooth curves on the heart.

Just noticed your post cv. Looks real nice. Thinking back to your beginners days, were you a natural wood carver or was a lot of practice involved?

Just finished reading the details on the LJ site and all I can say is "WOW". Beautiful piece of furniture, can't say enough about the craftsmanship. I sure your wife is super pleased with the finished product. I don't even dare show this picture to my wife. Great job - A big Thumbs Up!!!!
