I got my '83 500 for $500 via eBay a few years back. Just this year, I got a 510 era headstock and all the 510 specific parts, PLUS a complete set of blades and arbors and turning centers . . . for $75. The only thing missing from the 510 was the stand, and that hasn't changed since they started. ;)...

I also purchased new tires. I have had aproblem with the tires slipping off the wheels. Has anyone else had this problem? The wheels were clean with nothing left on them from the old tires. Thanks for any help you can give. With Bicycle grips, the 'lubricant' used to slip them on is 'hairspray' . ....

On my scroller (not a ShopSmith model) I use Flying Dutchman blades. Electrolysis would do the trick. You can probably use a large, sturdy (think Rubbermaid 'Brute' like janitors use) trash barrel for your 'vessel' . . . your way tubes will have to be done one end at a time, but other than that, all the pieces should fit in there.
