salvaging an old motor/headstock parts for a deputy?

I upgraded my existing headstock to the Power Pro years ago and have been happy with it. This was an upgrade (not a headstock swap). At the time this saved several hundred dollars but now I regret it a bit wishing I had my old headstock in its entirety to make a deputy. But I do have the old headsto...

Re: New Generation 2 PowerPro Headstock Touchscreen

I like the look of the touch screen instead of the buttons. Some unanswered questions but I think I'm going to go for the upgrade from PowerPro Gen 1 to Gen 2.

Re: Shopsmith planer bed leveling

I ended up disassembling the planer after noticing that the table mounting posts also looked bent. I suspect that may have also occured when the planer table got damaged. So I'll be replacing all 4 table mounting posts... Since I had the machine apart I tried using a shim and some bessey's to make t...

Re: Belt Sander Backup Plate Warped

I have a new 2021 belt sander I purchased as well. Just checked my backup plate is also not flat. In my case it seems to be high only in the middle. Thanks for posts and suggestions in this thread. Haven't decided if I should call support on this yet. I may just add shims to mine to correct the issue.

Re: Shopsmith planer bed leveling

Having said that, I question the need to do anything. I was debating the same thing. https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?p=267172#p267172 I'm with you and I have not yet done a bunch of real world testing to determine if the bed/table would cause snipe or other issues for example. I'm still i...

Re: Shopsmith planer bed leveling

How are you 'measuring' the drop? Is it table flatness, or elevator screw height that is causing it? I was measing the drop by placing my starrett straight edge in the center part of the planer table directly under the cutterhead and measuring drop from there. Essentially I'm just checking it for f...

Shopsmith planer bed leveling

Got a used Shopsmith Mark V mounted planer that is about 35 years old. Aluminum table bed with steel laminate top. Very happy to find one. I'm at least the 3rd owner of this machine. The infeed part of the bed table is dead flat as is the part under the cutterhead. The outfeed of the table has about...
