Re: Double tilt upgrade

You already have 1 7/8" bench tubes. You need 1 3/4" tubes(only size currently available from the mother ship). You WILL need shims to ensure the correct c-c spacing. The bench tubes press against a boss in the end castings that is shorter on your castings than the current version. :confu...

Re: Bow Xtender Fence

An idea that SS already has.... https://shopsmith.com/product/rip-fence-extension-package-for-mark-7-mark-v-520-mark-4/ Problem was price for me. IF SS would make it an option to compete price wise...it would make sense. All of my many SS toys would fit/work. Doc Currently on sale and av...

Bow Xtender Fence

Stumpy Nubs latest video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuoNIRwfnPg This looks like a very good option for the SS table saw. The price isn't too bad either. https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/ACC94ACA-7876-439B-AE8B-F4390B90A049?ingress=0&visitId=df697034-8091-4a2d-9c54-b3a40b8ec0c7&lp_que...

Re: Which Lathe upgrade?

It's not limited to just turning but can be used with larger Drill Bits, think Forsner, which slows them down to avoid burning. The Conventional Mark V Headstock runs between 700 and 5200 RPMs. Scott Markwood from My Growth Rings pointed out that the speed reducer doesn't work great for drilling be...

Re: Is the Smart Motor Speed Dial Ring, Back-Up Spring, part# 504196

Not to hijack the thread ( but I guess I am) so now SS is calling the conventional head stock a smart motor? Even with a search and replace how could that happen. I don't know what the original parts list said for these parts but I don't think the word motor was in their description for the parts in...

Re: Table Saw Cutting Funny

Well guys I can honestly say I definitely did not get a kick back but I cannot definitely say the wood did not move on me. It has in the past... I have had it close the saw kerf and pinch my riving knife and all sorts of issues in the past cutting this batch of walnut. So I can't rule it out but......

Re: Table Saw Cutting Funny

I agree with Dusty. I don't see how thus can happen (particular with a 1/8" gap) with out a kick back. Maybe at one end of the stock if something moved but not a curve in the middle of the stock. Being inside for a couple of years does not mean that the wood will not move when cut. Is this happ...

The tail stock is a #2 Morse taper. SS sells a live center and they show up on eBay all the time.

Re: New Power Station Motor Or Fix It

I agree with Dusty. Look at the second picture in the first post of this thread. At the 7 o'clock position it looks like the varnish is discolored. The actual fault could be buried in the wire bundle.
