Re: A pair of Knick-Knack shelves

I was able to hang the shelves today. All through this project I struggled to find a way to hang them where the hardware would be invisible, but in the end I used zinc wallboard anchors and phillips head screws. I can come back later and paint the screw heads to reduce their visibility. These went u...

Re: A pair of Knick-Knack shelves

Here is the progress thus far. The finish is fairly close to, but not exactly, like the the door and wall trim in the room. (Rustic TX style house.)

I'll go back tomorrow and touch up any light spots in the stain. Then this weekend a few coats of Watco clear finish.

Re: Flag Display Case, My First

Marc, that looks fantastic.

To have your spouse’s flag so beautifully displayed in a case that was handmade by a loved one is truly special.

Re: polish/wax table tube receivers

I guess I will leave well enough alone. It’s easy to get wrapped around the axle when trying to make something “more betterer.”

Re: polish/wax table tube receivers

Ed, that may be what I’m looking for. Sounds like it just needs to be clean, which it is. No need to polish like the way tubes?

polish/wax table tube receivers

I have been working on cleaning/waxing/lubricating my 1998 Mk V. I think I've got the way tubes and all the table tubes good but I'm having trouble getting to the inside of the receiver on the headrest and carriage. I'm reluctant to use something really abrasive and thus far I have been able to atta...

Re: Making a router table

I know this is an old post, but that looks really good.

I built a router table last year and it’s on a growing list of projects for me to revisit and re-think.

Re: A pair of Knick-Knack shelves

Interesting. I think I will try that. The only other fence I’ve used is on the Dewalt job site table saw. The 520 fence seems heads & tails better so far. But I had not thought to reinforce it. I did clamp the workpiece but with some difficulty. I need to find the right size piece of 3/4” ply sc...

Re: A pair of Knick-Knack shelves

You’re right about getting the edge closer to the table. And fine sawdust / glue is a project saver.

Re: Advice on additional equipment assuming Shopsmith as my initial setup

I like the functionality of the ShopSmith full size drill press, but I also like my Woodpecker's drill press table. I'm not sure something like that would easily attach to the ShopSmith and be easy to reinstall and keep accuracy. I would lean toward a benchtop drill press first. I have had mine abou...
