Re: Need a shorter lathe tool rest

Thanks, DLB. I have to admit I was hoping to get something for significantly less than $70.

Need a shorter lathe tool rest

Hi all. I've been doing a lot of pen turning lately and the 8" tool rest is just a tad too long to get close enough to the work. I thought I would look into the ShopSmith 4" lathe tool rest, but the website says it's out of stock and they have no idea when they might get more. There are no...

Re: Two carriage bolts and knurled nuts?

Russ and JSBurger are correct; I was referring to that carriage bolt that keeps the two halves of the table level to each other, which the manual calls the "table leveling screw". The set screw that acts as the table's 0 degree stop is referred to as the "Table height screw" in t...

Re: Two carriage bolts and knurled nuts?

Rather than clutter up the forum with another post... Since I don't have the bandsaw table leveling bolt, is there any reason I couldn't use a carriage bolt, 1/4"x1" with a flat washer and wing nut? I assume that's what the original would have been (but with knurled nut instead of wing nut).

Two carriage bolts and knurled nuts?

In assembling/sorting/aligning my new-to-me model 510, I found a small plastic bag with a pair of carriage bolts and knurled nuts that I can't figure out the purpose of. I had thought maybe one of them was the leveling bolt for the front edge of the bandsaw table, but the bolt seems way too long for...

Re: DC6000 vs. DC3300 vs. other options?

Thanks for the all of the input, everyone. My shop is VERY small (it's about 10'x17'), so space is a major concern. I've decided to forego the DC3300, and go with a cyclonic separator in front of my Ridgid shop vac, and a ceiling mounted air scrubber. Actually, I'm going to try to mount the cyclone ...

DC6000 vs. DC3300 vs. other options?

Hi all. I'm very concerned about dust collection in my shop. I have a very small shop (about 1 car garage size), and I mostly build guitars. I'm concerned about sawdust getting in my finishes, and sawdust scratching up existing finishes. (I know I'm going to have to do a TON of cleaning.) I've been ...

"Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone" PDF?

Does anyone have a working link for the PDF download of "Power Tool Woodworking For Everyone" for the Mark V? I've found a lot of links that are supposed to go to the page on the Shopsmith site where it can be downloaded, but apparently that page has changed and you can only buy the physic...
