Re: Bandsaw table upgrade issues - Blade hits the insert
Russ, I'll consider adding the nylon screw at some point. But for now I decided to go through the complete alignment of the upper guide assay because the upper guide roller was quite a ways away from the blade and not the same distance at its high position vs the low position. I found the tension ad...

Re: Bandsaw table upgrade issues - Blade hits the insert
Russ, Thanks so much for all the detail and insight. I installed a wider 1/2" blade and then re aligned the table for square and perpendicular. It was off a bit in both axis. I backed off the guides and noticed that the blade was hitting right side the lower guide block assy. The upper block as...

Re: Bandsaw table upgrade issues - Blade hits the insert
Thanks for the insight. I had already tried adjusting the table as far to left as possible, but that didn't help. I had also checked to make sure I had the blade tension correct for the 1/4" blade I have installed. I backed way off on the upper and lower blade guides so there was absolutely no ...

Bandsaw table upgrade issues - Blade hits the insert
I have a 1981 bandsaw and just installed the table upgrade. All went well until I installed the round table insert. The blade hits the inside (left) edge of the slot. It looks like the entire table is about 1/4" to far to the right, based on how the slot lines up with the blade. I reached out t...

Re: MK V quill shaft has a lot of play
Just to close this out . . . . I replaced the quill assy with a new dual bearing one. Problem solved. Thanks again for all in the input.

Puckett
Nice looking solution. I would also like to turn bats. Do you have drawings of your extension? Or do you sell them?
Thanks,

Re: MK V quill shaft has a lot of play
I replaced the drive sleeve bearings and still have play in the shaft. I'm going to live with it for a while and try a few more wood turning projects and some router cuts to see if the wobble/play is a real issue or not. If it is I'll likely replace the quill with the 2 bearing one next. I'd like to...

Re: MK V quill shaft has a lot of play
Good to hear that there shouldn't be any play in the shaft. I took drive sleeve assy out and holding it firm between blocks of wood. I inserted the quill shaft and could feel the accessory end of the drive sleeve shaft move when I put side to side pressure on the shaft. I'm going to replace the driv...

Re: MK V quill shaft has a lot of play
I installed the Drive & Ring until it snapped into place and checked that it fit snugly. I'll check the shaft next. Maybe this play I'm feeling is normal for this vintage quill assy. I can feel the play ever so slightly even without a chuck on the spindle. I wish I could measure it precisely. Th...

Re: MK V quill shaft has a lot of play
Thanks for all the replies. I tried the chuck w/drill bit in the upper accessory shaft and it doesn't have any play at all. This would suggest that the drive sleeve bearings are in good shape, correct? It wiggles with a woodturning chuck as well. The farther away you get from the headstock, the more...
