Welcome to the forum. I have a '56 Greenie and it is a solid machine. I've made some nice stuff on it for the women in my extended family and they are enjoying my hobby as much as I am. There is a frequently asked question asked of the Shopsmith and you, like others, have asked it. The question deal...

Welcome to the forum, Mark. These folks will help you a great deal with what ever you want to know. Woodworking is fun and therapeutic, although addicting, as you will see.

No Joe I didn't outline those dodads with the router. I'm lucky to keep things straight, smooth, and not get tear-outs with a router. Those were just glued on. It's been a couple years since I made those big chests for my girls and I think I used some small finish nails to anchor them to the chest. ...

Thanks for the kind words. Woodworking is really satisfying. Tomsalwasser: I didn't carve those dodads on that chest. They're store bought and just glued on. I couldn't carve anything, that kind of art is beyond me completely. I can't think like an artist. Mechanical stuff I can do, but the necessar...

Here's some stuff I've made

I laid off building anything for about a year. I get bored easily and move on to other stuff to do. I've been playing a lot of golf and riding my motorcycle until the weather turned bad...

I hate finishing, too. I sand to 220 then use 0000 steel wool and try to get a shine and then I Tung Oil it. Usually three coats and I let it dry really good between coats. I don't have the patience to be a good finisher, I have to leave the shop for a day of so and go play golf between coats. I've ...

Soon as I figure out how to post pictures I'll do so. A cranky bunch, huh? I'm in the right spot, I guess. Been accused of being a grump a few times myself. Jim in Bakersfield.....Hey neighbor! We gotta get together and see each other's shops. I HATE cleaning and organizing so mine looks like a rat'...

Long time lurker, first time poster

Howdy Y'all! Been standing by reading on and off a couple years. I've had my 56 model SS for about 4 years now. I've made Blanket Chests for my 2 daughers-in-law and small jewelry boxes for all the women in my family. A rocking chair so my d.i.l could rock our grand kids. I really like building stuf...
