Re: What finish for chisel handles?

Well, I sort of ruined the 1st one so I will experiment with it. I think I'll try the tung oil 1st.

What finish for chisel handles?

I'm making some chisel handles from almond (from my firewood pile). It sands up to a very hard fine finish. It needs color, Almond is kind of pink. I have Varathane Dark Walnut. Then it needs some protection from my grubby hands. Does anyone think Varathane stain is enough or should I put something ...

Re: New here - New Power Pro - New problem.

Howdy everyone. I finally had time to address this "lock up" issue. This link https://www.shopsmith.com/mediawiki/index.php/Powerpro_Problem_Solving#Things_that_may_cause_the_.22DOES_NOT_ROTATE.22_Warning says it is probably the power connector (6 wire molex plug). So tonight I opened it u...

Re: New here - New Power Pro - New problem.

Just want to add a thank you to all of you for the help. I've got some out of town business so I may not be able to put my hands on it for a few weeks. I do appreciate all the ideas.

Re: New here - New Power Pro - New problem.

I opened it up, took off the belt and also removed the black fan cover. There wasn't a spec of dust anywhere but I hit it with compressed air anyway. With the belt off it still has the problem but only required a very light touch to get it going. All buttoned back up the problem persists, but it did...

Re: New here - New Power Pro - New problem.

Haven't had a chance to open it up yet but I checked my plug. Green wire to green, white wire to silver and black wire to gold. My outlet is testing at 123v. I didn't get to test the machine on 220, it as an impulse purchase. The garage doesn't have any 220 available, only my dryer in the basement w...

Re: New here - New Power Pro - New problem.

Alright, edma194 has given me a good place to start. I'll open it up again and see how the motor does with the belt off. While I'm in there I'll check the belt tension. There seem to be a lot of posts about blowing dust out from inside the black plastic cover on one end of the motor so I'll do that ...

New here - New Power Pro - New problem.

Hello, I just bought a used Mark 7. It does not appear to have ever been used, most parts are still wrapped in plastic. Not a scratch on the couplings. It was converted to 220. I put a 110 plug on it. At first it wouldn't start up, giving me LOW VOLTAGE and RESTART. Sometimes it would make a noise l...
