Thanks Russ. The pillow block/casting play is what I am referring to. I am going to reassemble the unit today and will center the cutter head left/right and align the axis with the headstock drive shaft and see how the blade adjustment goes.

I puller the cutter head and replaced the worn out bearings. I am in the process or reassembling and I note that there is considerable play (slop) available in cinching down the bearing blocks. I am guessing that centering left and right and aligning the shaft to be parallel with the headstock power ...
