Nicely done. Welcome, I was gone for a long time too - military. Now you will have to start thinking about an heirloom baby crib.;)

I'll take the bait. It looks like (begining in the center and moving out) Ebony, Oak, ans Mahagony. Although the last one, Mahagony leaves me wondering, given it's a softer wood. That's my guess!

Try googling "Stanley Doweling Jig No.59", or "Marples M148". These are two jigs I own that use what you have. Since yours are not with a jig, I guess that has been lost or sold, or were intended for "make your own".

I'll see what I can work up. Really nice, especially having everything in one place. What, or whose dowl jig do you use? I have a Stanley, and also a Record, The Record is quite complex and I need to work with it, like you did with this project to test out new techniques. I like you lumber choices as well.

This bird house is a decagon (10 sided). I cut the ceder into 1-1/2" strips about 1/2 inch thick. Cut the strips with an 18 degree bevel on each side. Ten strips closes the circle. The strips are 6 inches long. I cut the tube after glue-up on the top with a 10 degree beve...

A couple of things. I seldom use metal glides anymore when you can make your own in wood that will last a lifetime. Home Depot sells some nice Popular 1/2 thick material that makes excellent slides and case material and it's cheaper when you consider what you waste when you plane your own. I like 1/...
