Ok, finished the jointer minus the bearings which arrived yesterday. Now that I’m off of that tangent, I decided to work on the lathe tool rest and pulley cover. I am sooo tempted to paint in into a mandalorian helmet. This is the way.

Used a wire brush to remove the bulk of rust on the legs and then naval jelly. As you can see it is not that much different than the current Shopsmith 4" Jointer and can use most of the current parts as replacements including all but the Dust Chute from the Retro-fit upgrades.

Another thing you can use is oxalic acid. Add it to water, stir and soak the parts. Don't use a power tool with a brush as it creates fumes you do not want to breathe. Although I cannot identify the manufacturer of that one it is not a Magna/Shopsmith Jointer. Magna/Shopsmith are not the only Jointers available. Are there any other markings on it elsewhere besides the DANGER sticker? It certainly has seen better days. I have only been able to find the numbers 243...
