You guys are great. MY SS is now copasetic (after managing to get the belt completely bound on the pulley and flipping my breaker several times before finally figuring it out). Unit needed a good cleaning and waxing anyway. Thanks again.

Have a photo but couldn't see how to attach - guess it should make sense as described though.

Thanks for quick reply. My wires are black/white from power and yellow/green to motor. Green on the side with white, or... Will it matter if I'm on right or left side with the neutral?

Thank you both for replies. That was the problem - turning the handle RH instead of LH. Handle now removed from the rod. Now confused re: how to get the rod installed with the wedges in place. Shopsmith instructions say "Turn the rod until the wedges are 1" to 1 1/2" from rod ends and...

I would appreciate some help with my headstock lock problem. The lock was jammed so I removed the original lock mechanism with a hacksaw and ordered a replacement mechanism.
