Do not assume anything about the knife adjustment. The knives have to be adjusted to your outfeed table. when you loosen the screws to adjust the knives, you can shift the knives to align them with the edge of the outfeed table for rabbeting, then adjust the height to your outfeed table ...

Are you, perchance, missing the rubber ring between the headstock and carriage? Usually on the rear way tube, it provides proper spacing between the carriage and headstock.

Just be aware that WD-40 is "NOT" a lubricant. The quill should be given a good coat of furniture paste wax and buffed out thoroughly. They will only fit conventional headstocks. The Power Pro headstocks use two flat belts.

This would be mostly a matter of personal choice. The SS blades are very good blades, but the availability of other good blades in your area could make the 5/8" arbor a better choice for you. It's a case of which choice is better for you. You won't go wrong, either way. JMHO
