Re: Bringing back to life: Shopsmith 10E & 10ER

Thank you, Russ! I'm loving this group more every day. My kind of crowd. I'm really surprised there's no membership fee, since it is worth a great deal to me. I will be checking out those links tomorrow (if it actually rains), today was raking up a ton of large oak leaves from my forested yard (lots...

Re: Bringing back to life: Shopsmith 10E & 10ER

Thank you for all this very valuable information Russ & JSBurger! I loved the details on how JS cleaned up all the parts, but you fortunately have much better tools than I do yet, like the Blast Cabinet and how you turned the tubes to clean and polish, I don't have either ability so far, but soo...

Re: Bringing back to life: Shopsmith 10E & 10ER

Thank you for all the great information! I know very little about these machines but look forward to restoring and using them. I did find and buy one drill chuck at a super low price, but without the chuck key. Budget will slow down the process of buying more attachments, I'm retired. The casters on...

Bringing back to life: Shopsmith 10E & 10ER

I was gifted two Shopsmith machines, a 10E (s/n E-2390) and a 10ER (s/n 58599). They are not complete machines, mostly just missing small attachments that make the machine useable, like the drill chuck (which I found on Ebay), lathe fixtures (even the tool rest bar). I am so happy to have found this...

Re: Just got a 10E

Russ, Thank you very much for your reply. I will start my own thread; I was so excited to find one with the same title I wanted "Just got a 10E", so I will be a little more original in my next post, which will include serial numbers and some photos. I was planning on rebuilding my machines...

Re: Just got a 10E

I am overwhelmed with joy to have found this Forum with all the experienced artisans. This past summer I was gifted two old, very rusty Shopsmith's, one is a 10E and the other is a 10ER. I just recently purchased a new workshop to move them into and have begun removing rust, assembling and buying mi...
