Re: hide glue

My problem with the Titebond glue is that when I go to buy it locally, it has always been expired.
I now use "Old Brown Glue " http://www.oldbrownglue.com/ Longer expiration date.

Re: Turning - Stick pen

I usually use some mechanics safety wire. One time in a hurry, I wrapped the ends around a couple of 2" deck screws. I get 2-3 sets of grooves per wire, then pitch it. It can get red hot and break.

Start by removing the eccentric from the tailstock and supporting it in a loose vise.

Re: I want a work light similar to the Shopsmith

I know that your question is about the shopsmith light, however I just replaced my T8 florescent's with some LED lights that look like the florescent's($32 on sale @ Costco). With these I no longer needed the individual lights. Hmmm... What length bulbs? Is that $32 per bulb? I have T8's in the sho...

Re: Questions about router mortise cutting

Last week I used the Shopsmith Speed Increaser under the table to rout edge rabbets on 3 foot long 1 x2 pieces. As this operation is pretty similar to cutting mortises, I thought it might be appropriate to post a few thoughts about how it worked out in this thread. First, even with the bit spinning...

Re: lathe chisels

Ditto what beeg said. Having a coach while you are learning is priceless. I have some Easy Wood tools. I like them. They are easier to learn. However, I get more tearout than with standard tools. I also find them sometimes catchy if i have a muscle tremor.
