Thanks! Right now it's locked down tight. I will loosen it when I install the Locking Lever.

Re: How do I reinstall the Bandsaw table tilt lever?
Thank you for your replies, JPG and Russ. This is where the instructions vary for the rear fixed nut and the Locking Handle. The fixed gets a 3/8" Washer and the 3/8" Stop Nut. The front gets a thrust Washer, the 3/8" Washer and the Lock Handle. I don't see the thrust washer with the ...

Re: Johnson Paste Wax
I agree with garys on this one... I got my Shopsmith this year, so JPW was already history when I started learning how to maintain it. I use a can of Minwax from the local Ace. Gets the job done. Other than as a nostalgia thing I don't see any point in stressing using Johnson's vs any other brand na...

How do I reinstall the Bandsaw table tilt lever?
While rearranging my shop space to set up my new (to me) Shopsmith, I noticed that the table tilt lever is missing from my Bandsaw. It appears to have been removed by one of the previous owners. I think I found the missing lever in the various accessories and odds-n-ends I received with the machine,...

Re: How do I install the upper saw guard on this 84' model 500?
Hey br549... thanks so much for the answer. Amusingly enough, I finally figured it out on my own by searching the Mcmaster-Carr catalog. They are also known as crimp-on external retaining rings. https://www.mcmaster.com/products/retaining-rings/crimp-on-external-retaining-rings/ You may need to find...

How do I install the upper saw guard on this 84' model 500?
I'm setting my new to me 84' Mark V model 500 in table saw mode. I attached all the lower saw guards and the riving knife, but cannot figure out how the clear upper guard attaches. Looks like there's a pin that fits through the hole in the riving knife, but it seems to be fixed in place by some hard...

Re: Safest way to remove light rust spots on bandsaw table?
Thanks for the welcome and the advice! One of the best things about owning a Shopsmith is the outstanding community. Evaporust. Only attacks the rust. Non toxic. Thanks for the recommendation. I can't pick this up at my local Ace, but once I get into town I will pick up a jug. The tubes you show are...

Safest way to remove light rust spots on bandsaw table?
Hello everyone, I recently acquired a '84 Mark V model 500 with three SPTs... the bandsaw, belt sander, and an entirely unused jointer. I'm entirely new to the Shopsmith line of tools and woodworking in general. Fortunately, my Mark V came with all the paperwork, and I've been availing myself of the...
