I watched https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2S7ICFrSttAbut about doing a home upgrade of the quill but I was wondering how deep and to what width he machined the casing and what bearing he used. Anybody know?

I recently acquired a new old MV500. It has attachments; bandsaw, jointer, belt sander - but this piece I can't figure out exactly what it's for. Any ideas?
