When this all happened, my first thought was JB Weld, but I could not find my tube!!!:( So the epoxy was the second choice, knowing that it probably would not work or last long.
Of course, when I need to find something else, I will, naturally, find my JB Weld!!:D Never fails!

Attention Lathe Turners
It is my intention, as done and shown by Ed, to tap a second set screw hole. I can see where having two set screws in operation will somewhat prevent what happened from happening again. I definitely will use a set screw that will not dig into the ring. Yes, the Center adjustment ring apparently is s...

Ed,
Thanks so much for your input, pictures, and no how. I apparently missed your post on this, and most certainly will take advantage of your know how when I return from my pheasant hunt.
You saved me a whole bunch of time by figuring out how to do it!
Thanks Again!

Attention Lathe Turners
One can file this under, "Did not know it was Happening!" I was setting myself up to put some final touches on a turning project when I discovered a problem. I always check the "point to point" relationship with the headstock and tailstock, and if they are off, I simply adjust th...

Wanting to Turn Again
Making a peppermill, one has to consider several things. A lot of peppermills require several different size holes. For example, the Mini Mill that I made requires three different sized holes to be drilled. Because of this factor, I felt that it was best to drill the holes first, before turning the ...

Velcro and heat, not so good a thing
When I was a little boy, I worshipped my Uncle. He was the person that got me started in woodworking. Being a lad of about seven, I remember him telling me to "Never lend out your tools, you will never get them back or they will be damaged!" That was way back in the early 1950's! Over the ...

Several Lathe projects of the last few days
Very nicely done! Your "Story" reminded me of when I first started turning pens. It was almost two years later when I "could keep one" for myself! It is amazing how people come out of nowhere with......"I want one!"
Keep up the good work!

Scrap Wood Project/Mini Peppermill Grinder
A couple of months ago, Penn State Industries came out with a new turning project....a Mini Salt & Peppermill grinder. The catalog picture showed a finished Peppermill that consisted of laminated wood, and stands only 4 1/4 inches tall. I took this as an opportunity to use up some of my scrap wo...
