Cinci, the silence from Dayton is deafening and has been for many years. That's why we are looking elsewhere. We're actually talking to several communities at this time; Montgomery is just the only one to come to the attention of the press. Brick, if your serious about trying to interest folks in Ti...

Just a word to encourage you lefties: Jim McCann, the last remaining engineer at Shopsmith and the power behind the PowerPro (his idea, his design, his execution) is a lefty. Besides being an accomplished engineer/tool designer, he is also the most masterful master craftsman I know or know of. -- Nick

Quite right, Dusty. My wife, Mary Jane Favorite, is a top-of-the-line artist and designer whose illustrations grace the pages of Popular Woodworking. Her designs for furniture and "smalls" appear in many books, not just mine. The Sketchup work for the Wright airplane displays is mine, but ...

Flagrant Copyright Violations, Perhaps

"Is it just me or is that Darth Vader in the picture?" It's not you. When I do a 3D layout for someone who wants to show my Wright aircraft, I always put Mr. Vader somewhere in the crowd and wait to see if the person who has requested the layout notices. It tells me whether or not the pers...

Still Here .. and There

I'm around, guys, and I appreciate the fact I've been missed by some. Thank you for the kind words. I'm reasonably well and covered in sawdust, but presently concentrating on the aviation side of my career. As some of you know, I've built and flown nine Wright aircraft, six of which I am still saddl...

Folks, I appreciate the nice things you have to say. I miss you guys too; I would love to get back to my woodworking site, but sometimes life happens when you're making other plans. For the past year, I have been the administrator of my brother's disorganized estate and part of the support system fo...

I am busy, guys, thanks for asking. And yes, I have been making some contributions to the PowerPro. Designed the logo, for one thing. There's not a lot going on at http://www.WorkshopCompanion.com mainly because my other site, http://www.Wright-Brothers.org has been swamped. Every year the NHS hosts...

Actually, the editor of Shopsmith's Hands On! magazine talked Norm into writing that book and helped him find a publisher, after Norm won one of the scrapwood project contests Hands On! used to sponsor. That's why several of Norm's designs from that book made it into the pages of Hands On!. With all...

Folks, before we get too many people reading their digital camcorder manuals, let us remember that it is good manners (and a legal necessity) to ask permission of the person who you want to tape. And no, I don't want to be filmed, but thank you for asking. Those of you who plan to attend should unde...
