So, does that make the first picture the low speed option?

eta: I've taken a couple of photos and will crop / edit them for posting tomorrow AM. Unless the speed changer floats way off of the headstock, they won't clear each other.

Pics it'll be. I'll take a couple of shots this evening and post them up. I looked it over quite carefully yesterday. The lock lever is bent ever-so-slightly, but it's not nearly enough to cause the type of interference I'm seeing. Is the main casting of the speed control supposed to be pressed up t...

10E Speed Changer Crank vs. Headstock Lock

Hey folks, I recently picked up a speed changer for my 10E, and finally got around to putting it on this weekend. It appears the speed adjustment crank will block my ability to tighten and loosen the headstock lock. Is this a common issue, or have I installed it incorrectly? Also, the threaded stud ...

Nice score on all accounts!

I've got a combination plane, a 45 I think it is, but it's collecting a lot of dust.

Any more photos of those braces?

Very nice! Not only am I going to keep these plans for use as-is (my wife is just getting into knitting; she'd love this!), I've been looking for some treadle-powered grinding wheel plans. This will be very easy to adapt! I've always had issues grinding my hand plane blades. I almost always overheat...

It wound up being pretty easy. I froze the shaft, and was able to use my bearing puller and a piece of aluminum tube to pull the bearings into place, pressing on the inner race only. It was actually more difficult to get that entire assembly back into the headstock than it was to get the bearings an...

Three freeze-thaw cycles and one torch later, and it's finally free. That was, by far, the hardest bearing I've tried to pull. The thing I find odd: there was absolutely no corrosion on the shaft under or around those bearings. That part of the shaft looks like it was made yesterday. Anyhow, it's of...

Thanks, but that's the wrong one :) However, that video did answer a big question I had: despite the fact that the bearings were fully seated, the quill shaft still has 1/4" of movement (the front bearing actually slides in and out of the end of the quill housing). I learned that it's supposed ...
