Re: Beach life...and rust

Congrats on the retirement and the move! Curious if you were able to buy the property in Mexico or is it a lease? I ask because I had a co-worker that I knew who moved down to Mexico on a place near the beach but he told me he couldn't buy it outright. I think it was a 20 year lease on the land but...

Beach life...and rust

Since we last left Will and the Robot... I have retired, sold my place in San Diego, moved to Mexico and bought a house on the beach. Construction on my shop is well underway while all the tools remain packed in a little bodega. Building a shop from scratch is fulfilling a lifelong dream. (It even h...

Re: RPM Low notice PowerPro Unit

So if I understand correctly, this problem only occurs during table sawing operations and all other setups work fine? That creates a very curious scenario indeed. My newly upgrade PP performed fine yesterday ripping a long piece of 2" close-grain pine. (a piece that came from a house built in 1...

Bandsaw Overhaul

Did a thorough clean, lube & adjust on my bandsaw. I removed and completely disassembled the upper and lower guides, cleaned lubed and reassembled. I had no idea how out of whack it had gotten over the years. Installed the upgraded bearing kit, and then went through all the adjustments. That hei...

Re: PowerPro Headstock Upgrade

I just completed a PP upgrade...ask me anything! The first thing I would recommend is complete disassembly, go ahead and remove the quill feed. Then you can clean the main housing thoroughly. Polish the waytube and quill bores to a mirror finish. The instructions say to place the new labels over the...

Re: My newly upgraded PowerPro maiden voyage project

Thank you! I agree, you can never have enough room for coffee, or beer, or whiskey... Maybe I should have called it more of a shakedown cruise than a maiden voyage. Overall I like the PP...a lot quieter, and it does seem to be able to deliver more consistent power with things like heavy rip cuts. Re...

Re: My newly upgraded PowerPro maiden voyage project

Thank you! I didn't put a finish because I really wanted to keep the natural weathered look of the fence boards and the old bed frame has a factory--probably lacquer--finish.
