Re: Band saw guide bearings

Yes, these are OEM bearings from Shopsmith. I received the kit that you pictured above. I had all the same thoughts eveyone above had and double checked that I had installed the bearings per the instructions and double checked that all four bearings were identical (they were). I finally gave up and ...

Mark 7 saw blade runout

I have a brand new Mark 7. I noticed some wobble in the saw blade so jury rigged my digital caliper as a dial indicator of sorts. I see about .015” wobble in the blade near the teeth. I measured this several times with two blades. For grins I did the same in my 44 year old Mark V and only measured ...

Re: Band saw guide bearings

Sorry, I’ve not been on the forums for awhile. The picture is not upside down. The blade rises on the left side of the machine. The bearings could not be any tighter (I tried multiple times). The inner bearing races prevented them being any tighter. I put back the bronze bearing version that is one ...

This time I paid more attention to the PowerPro and noticed the output shafts (all of them) slowing or stopping but the speed indicator staying about the same ...

Re: Band saw guide bearings

I installed the dual backing bearings concurrent with getting the Mark 7. I still have to old bearing. I may try to reinstall it and see how that goes. Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Band saw guide bearings

I don’t believe it’s slipping on the tires. It slows the Mark 7 down to a crawl. If it was slipping on the tires I would think just the blade would slow down, not the entire machine. The blade did not slip prior to changing the bearings. I’ll try to get a picture the next time I use the bandsaw.

Band saw guide bearings

I have an old (30+ yr) bandsaw that I got second hand. I’ve used it a fair amount without much difficulty. I replaced the old guide bearings with the new upgrade kit. All went smoothly until I actually tried to use it. Now the machine slows way down trying to saw hardwoods. I started with trying to ...
