Re: Revisiting the Great Jointer Knife Height Debate

JPG wrote: Sat Mar 11, 2023 10:35 pm One can seek very small measurements re height above the outfeed table.

Run a few boards through and they will be smaller.
So does that mean if I make the height below the outfeed table, the boards will end up larger? :p

Re: Revisiting the Great Jointer Knife Height Debate

If the blade is 0.001" above the plane of the outfeed table, the blade will drag the 'ruler'(see Dusty's u-tube) very nearly 0.1". So now it's 12+ years since this was posted and I found it looking for what's the right digital measurement to set the jointer knives. So obviously this is a ...

Re: 520 rail misalinged?

This thread has been very interesting for me and informative. The location of the infeed end of the rip fence is actually determined by the four black nylon pads on the rip fence, They engage the front rail and would fence is locked the rip fence positioned. The outfeed end of the rip is positioned...

Ah ha! That's gotta be it.

Thanks JPG.

Thank you Dusty. You make it super clear.

Now I wonder how the two extra nubbins on the piece in this parts diagram fit. Anxious to hear back from SS engineering on this mystery.

Thanks again,

Re: 520 rail misalinged?

David, I looked at the part and it looks like it has four nubs to perhaps snap into holes on the fence bottom. Since two of my holes are larger and filled with allen screws, I put a message to SS engineering to see how the part is suppose to fit. I'll post the answer. The dang part is less than four...

And it looks like it was once there, so maybe just got knocked off or the mounting features might h...
