Re: Jointer Parts Info Needed
If you have ever tried to remove the screws holding the blades in a SS jointer or planer (I have) there is no need for "lock" washers. The screws are tight as He**.
very true, however many tightly fitted bolts and screws don't always stay that way under use. the forces generated by that machine ...

Re: Sliding the headstock easier
Short of removing them and rolling them across a relatively flat and level plane, I'm going to assume they aren't in perfect plane. That still leaves the issues of the lift assist applying uneven pressure, and difficulty getting the tubes trued up so the stay level in the down position. I'm going to ...

Re: Sliding the headstock easier
I've been experiencing similar problem on a recently acquired 510. The way tubes are horribly misaligned. I place the machine in level, finding the lower crossbars level too, I then placed the level in various spots along the way tubes and found them unlevel. First off, I'll say I don't have the ...

Jointer Parts Info Needed
I acquired a second shopsmith a while back, and while sharpening the knives, I discovered there were no washers in the wedges with the screws. The maintenance section of the manual calls for a "number 10 "special" washer. Can I get those locally? What's so "special" about it?
