Re: New owner of an older machine.

Wow!
Thank you for all that detail, Russ.
Haven't been out to the shop today, yet.
Was thinking about the Dremel and you confirmed it.

Will see what version of chuck I have.

Re: New owner of an older machine.

Thanks, John.
It was really crusty inside when I cleaned it yesterday.
Looks like I need to do a better job.
Good enough just wasn't.

Re: New owner of an older machine.

Having a little trouble (what else is new?) in getting the chuck on the quill for the drill press.
I notice there is no flat spot where the set screw is and the chuck doesn't want to slide on to the quill.
Here is my chuck:

And all the accessories or attachments I have found.

Re: New owner of an older machine.

Thanks for the additional info, Russ.

My father-in-law must have gotten the extra package because I've located all except the apron.
I'm pretty close to getting started.
I do have some more maintenance like cleaning and waxing but I think I can do some of that in between fooling around.

Re: New owner of an older machine.

Finally getting back to clean up.
Is there a picture, list or something that shows everything that comes (or came) with the Mark V such as chucks and stuff to actually use the machine?

I saw a picture somewhere but can't remember where.
Thanks for any guidance you can give.

Re: New owner of an older machine.

Thank you.
I found a thing with sewing machine oil with a long spot for $7.

I saw the Zoom oiler.
Maybe I'll go back and get that

Re: New owner of an older machine.

Yes sir.
Where can I get one of those oilers with the long tip?
Jacob Anderson doesn't seem to be in business anymore and he had them.

I want to be sure that everyone knows how much I appreciate their patient help.

Re: New owner of an older machine.

By Jove, I think I got it!!!
The floating sheave moves loosely.
Finally.

I put it back together and fired it up.
The speed control works and I have really fast speeds.
Sounds like a jet engine.
Hope it's supposed to.

On to the next maintenance items.

Re: New owner of an older machine.

Thanks for the additional info, JPG.

As far as hitting it, they're stuck almost together so I can't move them.

So far (knock wood) I don't believe I've warped the sheaves using the puller.
The pulley is still on the motor on the head still on the machine.
Not sure if that was made known.
