If the jointer does a good job with the blades like they are I would not worry about the rust until the blades do need sharpened. If I remember right there is a way to increase tension by changing the tension on the spring. The spring hooks into a washer that can be retensioned on the post that hold...

Yes. What I have bought will not have a large variance but very common to have 1/4 to 1/2 inch difference in width at each end of board.

Disc Sander

I have used a heat gun assuming that you have a steel disc. Just heat up the metal of the sanding disc which makes the glue get soft. Then it is pretty easy to get the paper off and the glue that holds it. Hope this helps.
