Hmmm... Food for thought...

How was Shopsmith born? Seriously, what was the genesis of the Shopsmith 10ER which led to the evolution of the MK V? I ask these questions after reading about the demise of Sawdust Sessions and what appears, on the surface, to be a cleaning house of Shopsmith's assets. Then I read Mr. Folkerth's po...

Jeez, guys, you've GOT to be kidding! All of this over a part to a machine! In my opinion: foolish. My goldie still has all original parts and belts. No problems whatsoever. If something breaks, we have the resource to fix it. Nothing, on any machine, will last forever, no matter what it's made of. ...

Chuck; I was thinking along the same lines as you: the excessive vibration from the Alaskan sawmill, along with the constant tension on the forearm while holding the chainsaw, probably pushed it over the edge. Then lifting those ridiculously heavy green slabs into my truck probably didn't help, eith...

Wow! What a month!

Hi, guys. It's been a while since my last post. I've lurked from time to time, but I was suffering from a bad case of forumburnoutitis. I think, at last count, I was a member of 20 or so other forums, ranging from woodworking, to Lee-Enfield rifles, to Coleman lanterns, to dutch ovens, etc. Couldn't...

Now that it's been a few days after the series of unfortunate events, I chuckle at it all. :) For instance: has anyone seen the movie "O' Brother Where Art Thou?" One of my favorites. In the end, during the flood, there's a shot of the Devil's bloodhound floating through the water in slow ...

Been away from the computer for a while. I finally finished the nightstands and they're in the bedroom. Pictures will follow, as soon as things settle down. The last week has been entertaining to say the least. Zero shop time to speak of. Lessee now... Wednesday-German Shepherd gets nasty diarrhea, ...

Got my three acres of lawn mowed, cleaned a rifle, and wet-sanded one of the pair of walnut and cherry nightstands, then put the fourth coat of tung oil on it. I'll have to rub it out, put on the fifth coat, let that dry, and then a couple of coats of wax and it's ready for the bedroom! Then I get t...

I am looking for a good, inexpensive, drawing program that I could use in helping design items like furniture, generate materials lists, etc. I have to admt that drafting was not, and still is something that I am weak with. Any suggestions and ideas would be welcome. Thank you in advance in helping...

Sketchup

Here's a good link for those that are interested in designing furniture in Google Sketchup: http://blogs.taunton.com/n/blogs/blog.aspx?webtag=fw-designforum I've used Sketchup a few times and really like it. I've got quite a bit more to learn about it, but so far I like what I've worked with. Sure b...
