Re: PowerPro Woes...

Tom Did you get a factory assembled headstock or did you get a DIY headstock. If you bought a complete headstock try installing your original quill and making another test. Actually whatever you bought you should have another quill to try. You may also check the motor mounts and see if anything is ...

I had an old vise that I inherited from my father in law. (before) Talk about pictures for words! OK, I'm weird I guess. When I see a pic (the other) of a new vise (or newly faced in present case, almost same thing) I say to myself "ah, that's nice, should get a lot of u...

Re: SS keyless chuck

I bought one earlier this year and returned it. The runout measured over 10 thousands, its big and heavy with no redeeming values as far as I am concerned. One of the worst things Shopsmith has come up with. Wow. 10 thou is absolutely unacceptable, imho. Were you able to confirm the problem was act...

Re: SS Bandsaw making funky cuts

The blade I'm using is used, but there couldn't have been more than a mile or two on it as everything that came with this one was kept in immaculate condition. Does anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I'm struggling here. Thank you in advance funky_cut.JPG Judging by the picture, the feed r...

We heat our shops out here by turning off the air conditioning.

Re: SS keyless chuck

I just do not have faith in keyless chucks. Perhaps I have never had my hands on a good one(Dewalt comes close). I hate boogered shanks. Agreed. I too am repulsed by shanked boogers. I guess that's why it took me awhile to get used to, and confident in, the new keyless guy. There's till that wee li...

Re: Bandsaw While lifting

Hmm, I'm pretty sure I've maxed out the eccentrics. But I'm sure I have not tried the table tilt ploy.
So, this being a matter of truly significant import, I will take that next step and try try again. One more time. A fix would be worth it.

Re: Bandsaw While lifting
Y'know, I keep axing myself the same thing- what would it hurt. Then I put the offsets back on. Then I use the band saw for somethi...

Re: How many sq.ft. is your wood shop?

Like most others, the real "shop" space is hard to pin down. My "shop" (garage) is 20 x 22, on paper. However, I measure "shop space" as the amount I can move before running into something (SS, planer, shelving for SPTs and accessories, etc), which is usually about 2 fe...
