Re: Will a SS Mark 7 Carriage Fit/Work on a Mark 5?
John has made a good point and I did not confirm which Mark VII or 7 you have. The first picture below is the current Mark 7. What I said above applies to it. mark7site.jpg The picture below is the older Mark VII from the 1960's. MARK-VII_SS Inc.jpg Russ, If I'm not mistaken, the early Mark 7/ Mark...

Lengthy posts are NOT a problem. I recommend thee stay from any posts by a creature whom refers to itself as "farmer". 'It' also has an authorship issue. :D Merry Xmas. :) . Shortest post EVAR, by Francis. (Oh, I also post long posts.) Merry Christmas, to the whole gang. steve

Re: Come on, admit it. It has crossed your mind
Being in the boonies out east of Snowflake, finding any hardwood lumber source is a chore. Spellman in Flagstaff is one. Been to the one in PHX. The difference is night and day. But, a bit out of your way. Ive had good luck with Timbers Woodworking in Mesa. (935 E. Southern). Decent variety of dome...

Re: Come on, admit it. It has crossed your mind
OK, Sterling has been taking woodworking classes at local high schools, they're adult ed classes, and most students attend every semester, just to have LARGE tools to use. One of the classes has a Wood- Mizer bandsaw mill. I have donated my work as the teacher's mechanic, quite a few times. The teac...

Re: Nova G3 Chuck
I have one, and LOVE it! I run it on an antique Cast Iron ShopSmith (Model 10) and it works just fine. Second best addition to the 10ER. Skip's DC motor kit is the first. Oh, common consent around here, if you want to run a lathe, or drill-press, the Model 10 is the best for those functions. (Liftin...

Re: Gallery of Restorations
You gentlemen do such an incredible job restoring these machines, if I got my hands on one I wouldn’t dare to use it. I would put it in the living room and call it a piece of art. I had one in the front room of an apartment. Like Jethro Gibbs's, it too was a "coffee table." Jethro's lived...

Re: MK V Thickness Planer
They need to offer it with the carbide spiral cutter head. It does one thing that as far as I know no other planer can do which is allowing adjustment of the feed rate independent of the cutter head speed. It’s a very nice feature when working certain woods but a $1000 more is a quite a jump. Paul ...
