Electric Chain Saw Recommendations?
Lo and behold, I found the 16" Worx at Lowes for $99. I bought it and opted for the 3 year unconditional warranty for an additional $11. I have yet to get it out the box, but I'll try it out tomorrow. (I also bought a 25 ft, 12 gauge cord.) That should do, because I only plan to use it in or ne...

Electric chain saw
Home Depot no longer has the Worx brand. It is out of stock in my local store and on the internet. Any other recommendations for 16" or larger saws from satisfied users?

Electric chain saw recommendations?
I do wood turning and think an electric chain saw would be handier to use for an occasional bowl blank prep than firing up the gas saw. I have read some reviews of small saws available at HD and Lowes for under $100. The reviews said the saws didn't run very long. Stihl and Makita have 16" saws...

Upgrade to Power Pro or not
I concur with Dusty regarding the multimeter. Sears has adequate ones for under $20. Radio Shack is probably a good source too. Actually, I had determined there was no power to the switch, but with the motor installed, I couldn't see how it was wired. After I pulled the motor, I didn't test it, but ...

Upgrade to Power Pro or not - final update
The local motor repair shop reported the motor ran fine, but was full of dust. They cleaned it and replaced the bearings for a nominal fee, while I checked out the power cord. It turns out the white lead had opened right at the strain relief. It was not visible without removing the cord, and explain...

Upgrade or not - update
I had hoped to hear from some Power Pro owners to help in the decision. Thanks to all of you who answered. Here is where I stand: The cost is closer to $1700 for the do it yourself option with tax and postage, and is a lot of money, even with the wife's concurrence. So I followed instructions on thi...

upgrade to Power Pro or not?
My venerable Mk V, circa 1979, apparently died yesterday. I had been using the disk sander and turned it on a second time, but it stopped before coming to full speed. There was a slight smell of burnt insulation. I checked the on-off switch and verified power to the switch and was stumped as to what...
