About a year ago, a gentleman came into Shopsmith with a band saw with the very same complaint you have, minus the "bouncing." In fact, he even told a similar story -- his bandsaw had always made a lot of noise, then he attended one of our traveling academies and was surprised at how smoo...

Many years ago WOOD did a review of Shopsmith vs Total-shop. Very in-depth article. I also think it was WOOD, also many years ago, had the Shopsmith dust collector in a review.

Test your upper and lower wheels to see if they are out of round. Hold a rule or the long 5/32" allen wrench firmly against the frame with the end about 1/32" from the metal rim of each wheel. Turn the wheel slowly by hand. Does the rim remain the same distance from the end of the tool th...

Cinci: It's a little known fact that the upper bearing on the bandsaw needs to be regreased occasionally. This is a small needle roller bearing. I take a small amount of teflon grease and put it on the rollers with my finger. The upper wheel is held in place with a snap ring clip. Some older bandsa...

I also use the Bucket Boss brand with the shoulder straps and like it a lot. I purchased it at Rockler. I like the looks of the Shopsmith offering and would order one next time I need one. Another offering from "Lee Valley .com" is an apron that has pockets with a side opening to keep out ...

Shopsmith bandsaw problem

Hello! I have owned my Shopsmith bandsaw for 10 or 12 years now. From day one I always thought it was noisy but it was my first bandsaw so I had nothing to compare it to. Fast forward to about a year ago. I got to see a Shopsmith demo. The saw the demo person was using ran as smooth as silk. I had a...

ref.my post last week. I made a post on a very active woodworking message board about the ShopSmith site and the sawdust session videos. I am sure that has helped some. I think all of us ShopSmith owners need to go out and spread the word.

That's exactly what I have done. My first rubber ring was mistaken for packaging material and I cut it off and threw it away. Only a few months ago was I aware of what I had been missing. I worked for years without one. I bought a new ring but had issues with it while turning a pepper mill top from...

To Shopsmith

I have enjoyed the Sawdust session videos the last few days. I think they show what the Shopsmith is capable of doing above the 5 basic tools. A great selling tool for ShopSmith. Is it ok If I post on other Woodworking forums that Shopsmith has the videos available and post a link? I don’t want to p...
