Is it that much of a problem with the lift assist installed. Could you not just extend the quill to make up the difference or is it a greater distant than that? If I need a tail extender I would like to know so I can order one when I get the lift assist.

Back in the early 1990's I had the opportunity to meet the president of ShopSmith at a demo in a local shopping mall. A small group of us got on this very subject with him. He said to use paste wax. That the spray on stuff did not hold up well. One of us in the group asked "Then why do you incl...

In ShopSmith years 1986 would be considered a new unit. You will find ShopSmith goes out of it's way to make sure you can fit something new to an old unit. I know of no other company that does this.

Exactly my point in the other post about finding things on this web site. For new customers looking around you can't find what you need. Now for experienced users like you with over 500 posts I am sure it is much easier.

How cool is that.
This is the type of thing if woodworkers knew that the ShopSmith mark V is so much more than the 5 tools of the basic unit it would get more respect. This is what frustrate me the most trying to get non-shopsmith owners to understand.

Cinncinnati, I'm not sure what you are asking for. If you are in shopsmith, click on National Woodworking Academy then Entrance to Hands Online then Sawdust Sessions and once there - pick your session by clicking on the associated picture. Browse this link and you find Registration for Sawdust Sess...

Thanks for the replies. I post this question only because I know if I am having trouble others are to. I know being in retail myself that most customers who have problems don’t complain the just go away and never return. I can’t exactly say why I have such a problem moving around Shopsmith web site....

Navagating Shopsmith.com

Hello! I consider myself very good at navigating around the web but I seem to have trouble finding my way around ss.com. Am I the only one? I seem to get stuck in one area or another and can't find my way out. To my surprise I also have problems finding a product page even when I know what I am look...

I purchased my ShopSmith 510 new at a Cincinnati woodworking show in 1989 or 1990. At the time Total Shop had a display right behind the Shopsmith display and were battling it out. Got my 510 new for $1,299.00. I own the Bandsaw, jointer, Pro planer and the new lathe tool rest. I plan in the near fu...

Nick, thanks for the reply. I do wish the best for ShopSmith. I for one think it is one of the best woodworking money I have ever spent. I purchased my MarkV in 1989 and have only needed to replace the on-off switch. I do miss the saw dust sessions when SS had their retail store in Cincinnati. They ...
