Selling a Shopsmith
I am getting old enough to start downsizing. How is the best way to begin selling off my Shopsmith and associated attachments? I have an older Model 500. Would Craigslist, or other social media work best. Or local newspaper? Please advise

First off, I didn't have the proper tools (i.e., roller) when I did the contact cement thing. I also don't think I had the cement evenly distributed, which made it harder to determine what was dry and what was not. Bottom line - what you're suggesting I do is to start over and use proper tools and c...

Veneer help requested
I have been tasked to replace a veneer top on a game table. My first attempt, using red oak veneer and contact cement didn’t go well. My second attempt, after scraping and sanding the previous attempt off the MDF was to use the same veneer and wood glue. That was better, in that it made minor adjust...

Hi, guys, I just wanted to weigh in and clarify some things. First, the gas can. It was there by chance and it was a temporary thing. I had to move my Shopsmith around in the garage closer to the open door (which would have dissipated any fumes anyway), for better lighting for my non-flash digital c...

A "rookie" mistake
I admit it, I made THE rookie mistake a couple weeks ago and I'm big enough to poke fun at myself. I have an '86 MkV Model 500 with a borrowed bandsaw. I had to cut off the end of a 2 x 4 for some minor thing I was making. Popped on the machine - too slow. Started cranking up to sawing speed, but be...

Bandsaw tires
Wish I had seen this earlier this weekend BEFORE I glued on the upper tire. The directions I got with the tire looked easy, but, without the proper vise, it wasn't so. I got it done, but was thinking that as tightly as the rubber is stretched around the wheel, how is it ever going to slip. Oh, well,...

Getting "organized"
I wanted to share a couple if ideas that I had and built for my Model 500 over the weekend. I got the idea for the fence holder from one of my woodworking magazines and modified it for me (because I couldn't put my hands on the mag. :) The other side is for drill chuck, and other small items. Both w...

quill trouble
Is the spring tight, Nick posted a video on removing the quill and adjusting the spring. Thanks for the quick response. While waiting for a reply after I posted my original message, I went out and messed with it again. Seems all that it needed was a little lube where the pinion goes through the fro...

Quill trouble
Model 500, quill turns out fairly freely, but does not "snap" back as shown on Rick Davis' DVD on Maintenance & Alignment. I've taken the quill out, cleaned and waxed it. Even with the quill out, the spring seems unresponsive, in that it will retract on it's own, but v-e-r-y slowly. It...
