Thanks for your observations. I also watched the presentation, but decided that $500 was too much for a tool that I don't need. I don't do much finish carpentry. After using dowels, biscuits, and pocket screws I don't feel the need for another system.

I changed to the newer 500 saw guard and am happy with it. The upper guard actually works as opposed to the original one. Wish there was a way to have a riving knife. I guess I could update to the 520 system and guard, but that's a big expense.

Interesting that the 500 guards (part # 505875) I bought in 2011 didn't have those (items 7 and 8). The instructions mention the thumbscrews (item 6) and said that they were replaced with button head socket screws. The main literature is dated 2/88 with an update about the thumbscrews dated 5/92.

The desktop.ini icon shows up when the check box for hidden files is checked in the File Explorer, View Tab. I don't know why it would have been changed during an update, but that's where you can go to get rid of the new Icon.

In my experience, domestic pallets are not treated for pests. Only pallets used for international shipping are treated. Nothing more to complain about. I can now loggin with email and password. Had to change PW but I do that periodically anyway. The history file is there which is good news even though it does not go all the way back to my first order.
